United Airlines has a smaller presence in Boston Logan when compared to American Airlines and Delta Airlines. Yet, they offer a United Club in Boston. The lounge can be accessed in a few ways. Select credit cards such as the United Club Infinite Card grant lounge access. The MileagePlus Explorer Visa Card awards two complimentary lounge passes per year. Star Alliance Gold Members as well as Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge Members may access the lounge. Access is also possible through purchasing a one time pass or a United Club Membership. Active Duty Military are also welcome in United Clubs free of charge along with immediate family members.
First Impressions
The United Club Boston Logan is located post security in the departures area of terminal B across from gate 24. There is an elevator near the gate area that takes you to the second level where the check in desks for the lounge are located. All of the staff working at the front desk acknowledged us and wished us a good morning and welcomed us in. We have visited many United Clubs across the network and have found the staff to be the most friendly and professional across the board. Upon entering the lounge there are multiple chairs and high top tables on one side while restrooms and buffet area are on the other side. The United Club has quite a large footprint even though United has a smaller presence in Boston compared to American and Delta. This may be why we have never found the lounge to be completely full during our visits. During our 5:30 AM visit the lounge was practically deserted. The lounge has a modern feel while having a very subdued atmosphere with a rather bland grey and beige color pallet.
Seating Options
There are various types of seating options in the lounge. There’s a handful of 2 person tables near the buffet and bar area. There are also multiple tables with 3 and 4 chairs available throughout for families and larger groups. In the center of the lounge you will find high top tables equipped with power outlets on the table top. By the windows are additional high top tables spanning the entire length of the lounge. These tables offer great unobstructed views of the ramp area and runway. During our morning visit we could not see much but have gotten some great views of the runway during other visits. Towards the rear of the lounge are 2 enclosed work spaces where it is possible to get some uninterrupted work done.
Food And Beverage Offerings
During our morning visit we had an assortment of complimentary breakfast and drink items available. There were a few toasters next to the buffet, however only one was operating and the others did not work. During our morning visit the following complimentary breakfast and beverage options were available:
- Eggs
- Bagels
- Muffins
- Hard Boiled Eggs
- Scrambled Eggs
- Fruits
- Illy Hot Coffee & Decaf
- Espresso & Coffee Machine
- Orange Juice
The quality of the food on par with a hotel breakfast. It was nothing to write home about but it was adequate enough. There was a lounge attendant monitoring the quantity of items at the buffet. Given the empty lounge we had all of the breakfast options readily available.
Final Thoughts
Overall the United Club at Boston Logan is competitive compared to other airline lounges. There is an adequate amount of seating options available due to the amount of space in the lounge. The dรฉcor feels very cookie cutter and makes the overall atmosphere of the lounge feel bland when compared to newer lounges such as the American Airlines Admirals Club Lounge in Washington DC. However, the United Club was spotlessly clean during our and the furniture was in good condition during our visit. The food was your typical breakfast offering found in airline lounges. Where the United Club in Boston excels is the great service. Every lounge visit, we have experienced some of the friendliest and professional lounge staff. While it may not be the most dazzling or largest airline lounge, the United Club in Boston Logan is worth visiting if you have some extra time before your flight.
