Public Areas

Upon entering the Grand Hyatt Seattle, you are greeted with a sophisticated lobby, a modern minimalistic elegance type of feel. The lobby bolsters numerous seating options directly in front of the front desk. The Grand Hyatt Seattle has a self-serve beverage area in the lobby offering fruit infused water and hot apple cider. Grand Hyatt Seattle offers numerous check-in terminals where the staff was always courteous and eager to help. This is a cashless hotel, though there is an ATM in the lobby by the restrooms. The cleanliness of the Grand Hyatt Seattle public spaces including the lobby restrooms was immaculate. The Grand Hyatt Seattle offers a small but useful business center which is accessible with your room card 24 hours a day. The business center offers you the option to print only. The front desk stated they do not have a way to fax, however, there is a FedEx Ship Center about 500 feet from the hotel that you are able to utilize these services. Located on the 4th floor, the Grand Hyatt Seattle offers a health club with a fitness center that is open 24 hours a day. The Jacuzzi, sauna and steam room are open from 6am to midnight daily.

Parking

At the time of this review, parking at Grand Hyatt Seattle charged $58 a night for valet parking. The hotel also offers self-parking at the 7th and Pike Parking Garage that has an elevator attached to the hotel at $37 a night. There are numerous public parking garages in the area as well for parking. If you do not need a vehicle, the light rail goes directly from Seattle Airport (SeaTac) to Westlake Station which is about a 0.5 mile walk to the hotel. The direct route from the airport to downtown costs $3.00.

Dining

In-Room Dining โ€“ The Grand Hyatt Seattle offers full-service in room dining at fair prices and a generous selection. However, there is a 20% service charge (16% to the in-room dining team and 4% to the hotel) and a $5.00 delivery fee.

The following dining outlets have direct access to the hotel

Ruth Chrisโ€™ Steak House โ€“ A steakhouse you can find in what seems like almost any city, Ruth Chris is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

NYC Deli โ€“ One of the most expensive delis, offering sub-par food. You can find better food options at a fraction of the cost of this deli by visiting a local food truck or visiting another sandwich shop in the area.

There is a full service Starbucks attached to the hotel.

Staff

Overall, each staff member we encountered was extremely friendly and hospitable. This seems to be a rare find to have each staff member you encounter be hospitable post covid in a hotel. The front desk was extremely friendly on the numerous occasions we talked with them. The phone operator consistently exceled and offered additional assistance. The housekeeping team had a smile every time we saw them, and even the staff members that delivered amenities exceeded expectations. The Grand Hyatt Seattle ranks high on their outstanding service.

Final Thoughts

The Grand Hyatt Seattle exceled in many aspects especially when it comes to service and cleanliness which is a must-have in any hotel regardless of brand. While the valet parking is a bit steep compared to direct competitor hotels in the area there are many options in the area to park. Although the hotel offers different dining outlets connected to the hotel, you are better off exploring local Seattle restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. If you are looking for space, booking a suite is a must have so you have adequate space to spread out. Most importantly, the cleanliness in our room and public areas was phenomenal and the room offered adequate and comparable amenities. When your travels bring you to Seattle, the Grand Hyatt Seattle has proven to offer a clean comfortable stay and a pre-covid style service culture that the hotel industry is lacking. Finally, staying at the Grand Hyatt Seattle is a must for anyone looking to be close to downtown Seattle or to even visit Boeing, to see where the final 747 was produced.
