In this Corendon Amsterdam Schiphol Airport review we will walk through Corendon village, and take you on a unique hotel journey. One of the many amenities that makes this hotel stand out is the Corendon Boeing 747 in the backyard of the hotel. The Boeing 747-400 is a former KLM aircraft that entered service in June 1989.
Corendon & Marriott Bonvoy
On July 11 2022 Corendon & Marriott announced they will cooperate through a franchise agreement for five hotels in the Netherlands. As of 2023 the Corendon Amsterdam Schiphol Airport has operated as a Tribute Portfolio Hotel under the Marriott umbrella. This allows Marriott Bonvoy members to access their benefits at Corendon hotels across the Netherlands.
Corendon Amsterdam Schiphol Airport Review
The Corendon Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel is located inside of Corendon Village just outside of Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. The hotel has some pretty cool amenities that make you not have to leave the Village which makes it convenient if you have a flight out the next day. The Corendon Amsterdam Schiphol Airport has a cinema, multiple dining options, complimentary airport shuttle service, a 24/7 gym, indoor pool, massage services and a real Boeing 747-400 that you can tour.
Check In
Overall the staff at the front desk were exceptional. They immediately worked to get our rooms checked in, and even upgraded our room as a thank you for our Titanium status with Marriott Bonvoy. A convenient feature of the Corendon Village hotels, is that you can check in for the Corendon Apartments at the same check in desk as the Tribute Portfolio.
The Room
We were upgraded to the Junior Suite at the Corendon Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, a Tribute Portfolio hotel. Upon arrival to the room was a Dutch candy mix and Stroop waffle container and a handwritten note thanking us for our loyalty. The Junior Suite featured a very large bathroom, a full couch and a half bath immediately upon entering the room. While the amenities were basic, the room was comfortable and clean.
747 Skybar & Dining Options
The Mondi Skybar747 offers breathtaking views of the runways at Amsterdam Schiphol airport as well as the Corendon Boeing 747-400. While you are enjoying a bite to eat or a cocktail you can sit inside or on the outdoor terrace and take in the arrivals and departures from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, a true avgeeks dream! The Skybar also offers live music at select times.
There are two all you can eat buffet options at the hotel located on the lobby level. You can choose to dine at breakfast or dinner and take advantage of a large buffet with foods from around the world. The breakfast buffet operates on the weekdays from 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM and on the weekends from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM. The dinner buffet operates daily from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM. The dinner buffet offered a large array of food and desserts from around the world including sushi. The food was average buffet food but overall tasty and got the job done.
The Corendon Bar & Bistro operates until 10PM daily and serves Starbucks coffee, pastries, snacks and more. The food at the Corendon Bar & Bistro was incredible but it did take over 45 minutes for us to receive our small plates. After asking the server it was discovered that orders were not being sent to the kitchen.
If you are in a hurry, there is a grab and go mini market adjacent to the check in desk. Items can be scanned and paid for at little kiosks near the entrance. This grab and go area had to be one of the largest mini markets seen in a full service hotel. The space felt more like a small supermarket than a hotel mini market.
Amsterdam Schiphol Airport Shuttle
The Corendon Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel offers a free airport shuttle to the guests of the hotel that operates every 30 minutes almost all day long. The shuttle throughout the stay operated on time, and made getting to Amsterdam Central easy by taking the shuttle to the airport and getting the train to Amsterdam Central.
Corendon Cinema
Located beneath the lobby is the Corendon Cinema. The Corendon Cinema plays numerous movies throughout the day which offers the perfect relaxation if you do not want to deal with the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam. Corendon Boeing 747-400 Tour
The Corendon Boeing 747 began flying for KLM in 1989 before being retired 30 years later and finding its home in February 2019 in the backyard of Corendon Village. You are able to tour the Corendon Boeing 747-400 tour once per day at 11AM. Unfortunately, the tour did not operate on the Sunday that we were at the hotel.
Fitness Center & Pool
The Fitness Center at the hotel offers you a wide assortment of exercise equipment to continue your exercise routine. The pool is a generous size for a hotel with a Turkish steam bath and Finnish sauna.
Check Out
The Corendon Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel is a great hotel, letalone a great airport property. The hotel checks the boxes in all the right places. The room was in clean condition, modern and most importantly comfortable. The unique amenities such as the 747 and the cinema definatly gives the hotel a unique charm to it. While there was a minor issue with our food order not being imputed at the restaurant the staff were apologetic once they found out they initially gave us 10% off the bill, eventually comping us two buffet tickets. Other than that minor issue, the hotel was a great stay offering a nice retreat away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Amsterdam while being conveniently close to the airport and rail stations.
