There has been some hype in the news lately with Delta Air Lines and their aircraft orders. The Airbus A321 NEOs have Deltaโs latest innovation towards the front of the cabin such as their seats and Bluetooth connectivity. Their new domestic first class has been called a game changer by many. We had doubts, would their new first class product live up to its hype?ย
Our Flight
On 7/23/2022 we flew Delta Air Lines A321neo first class product from BOS to DEN to try out the new aircraft. The aircraft are configured a 3-class layout; 20 First Class, 42 Comfort+ and 132 in the main cabin totaling 194 seats. Each seat is equipped with inflight entertainment, power ports and high-speed Wi-Fi. Immediately upon boarding there is a large feeling of space in the aircraft. Additionally, the blue mood lighting set a calming mood for the early morning.ย
Approaching our seat, we were taken back on how unique the seat setup is. Upon sitting down, we are greeted by a massive screen and more storage than any other aircraft we have flown to date. During the boarding process many passengers made positive comments about the aircraft as well as the first-class seats. Right before pushback the captain stepped back to do his preflight messages, he also spoke about the new aircraft and was enthusiastic about it. After takeoff, breakfast and drink orders were taken. This gave us some time to check out the seat features.
Breakfast orders were soon taken. We were not able to pre order our options, instead the crew took our orders. The first class cabin was only 75% full however we were not able to select the desired meals we wanted as Delta had ran out our choice. It seemed like Delta was unable to provide adequate food to paying first class passengers. The Inflight entertainment (IFE) worked great. There was plenty of movies, games and tv shows to watch. We were able to connect our wireless headphones to the system eliminating wires that have to be connected to older systems. This feature is only available to the Delta Air Lines A321neo currently.
Final Approach
Deltaโs A321neo has lived up to all of the hype. The seats were very comfortable thanks to the memory foam. The cocoon-like headrests provided great privacy from your seatmate however, it is not as private as a suite found on long haul aircraft. Storage was great with space for electronics, books and more. To top things off the crew was great and attentive throughout the flight. When booking take a look out for the Delta Air Lines A321neo and try their latest innovative product.
