Virgin Atlantic has launched a long term partnership with charity Guide Dogs, creating a more accessible experience for visually impaired passengers. Crewmembers will learn best practices in aiding those with visual impairments. Topics include how to approach someone with sight loss, navigating tight spaces, stairs, busy spaces and taking a seat. Crews will also gain insight on where to best position guide dogs onboard the aircraft. Virgin Atlantic staff will have the opportunity to participate in practical hands on training where they will learn how to safely guide someone with sight loss.
A Growing Partnership
Airlines on both sides of the pond are working hard to make flying more inclusive for everyone. Virgin Atlantic Chief Customer and Operations Officer Corneel Koster said, โAt Virgin Atlantic, we believe that everyone can take on the world and that means ensuring every one of our customers has the best possible experience when they fly with us.ย Our partnership with Guide Dogs is one part of this journey and aims to broaden our understanding of those travelling with sight loss, ensuring that we make flying more accessible for everyone.ย We recognize thereโs work to do but are looking forward to making a real impact together as our partnership evolves.โ
Virgin Atlantic’s long term partnership with Guide Dogs strengthens the airlines commitment in making flying inclusive for everyone. Although all guide dogs have a legal right to fly, passengers are encouraged to reach out to Virgin Atlantic before flying to ensure any questions are answered and that full support is put in place.
