Porter Airlines loyalty program VIPorter just announced an exciting benefit. VIPorter members will be able to redeem on partner airlines, Alaska Airlines and Air Transat. Following the announcement, over 2,000 routes are now able to be redeemed through VIPorter. This is part of the multi phase joint venture between Alaska Airlines and Air Transat that was previously announced in 2023.

A Growing Airline

Porter Airlines has been interesting to watch over the past few years. They have transitioned from flying a handful of routes out of Toronto City Center on Q-400 turboprops to a full fledged transborder carrier flying Embraer E195-E2 jets. In 2023, Porter announced an interline partnership with Air Transat and Alaska Airlines. Under the interline agreement it is possible to fly transatlantic on Air Transat and throughout the United States on Alaska Airlines via a Porter Airlines reservation. Routes like Toronto City center to Paris via Montreal are possible with the interline partnership. Phase two of the partnership makes it possible to earn and redeem VIPorter miles on Alaska and Air Transat flights. “This next phase of our partnerships with Air Transat and Alaska Airlines gives VIPorter members even more flexibility and choice when planning their travel,” said Edmond Eldebs, senior vice president and chief commercial officer, Porter Airlines. “By expanding redemption options, we’re making it easier for our passengers to maximize the value of their VIPorter points across a growing network of destinations.” It will be exciting to see what other benefits Porter has in the pipeline for VIPorter members with two airlines in the coming years.
