Tweed New Haven Airport New Terminal Rendering // Tweed New Haven

If you have traveled out of Tweed New Haven Airport recently, the current terminal is feels cozy to say the least. With multiple Avelo Airlines and breeze Airways flights operating in and out of the airport daily, the current terminal is space constrained, especially with multiple flights leaving or arriving around the same time. Luckily a brand new terminal is on the horizon. Tweed New Haven Airport has revealed renderings for the new terminal slated for construction on the east side of the airport.

Hitting A Milestone In Terminal Design

The airport has reached a significant milestone in designing the terminal. The airport has reached a 60 percent terminal design completion. This translates to a near completion rate for the design and planning phase of the new 84,000 square foot terminal. Looking at the renderings it looks like there will be increased space for bag drop and security which is currently a major bottleneck in the terminal. Renderings show six boarding gates with two of them being covered jet bridges. When arriving, there will be two baggage claim belts as opposed to the single belt which like the rest of the terminal, gets significantly crowded when multiple flights arrive at once. In addition to the redesigned larger terminal, the runway will be extended 639 feet to the south and 336 feet to the north, opening up opportunities for larger aircraft. These prospects are exciting and will help the airport to grow, time will tell if the project will stay on timeline and budget, fingers crossed!
