Sun Country Airlines is launching a large expansion adding eight new domestic routes along with two new Canadian destinations. With the latest expansion, Sun Country Airlines will fly to over 98 destinations from their hub at Minneapolis Saint Paul international Airport (MSP). To meet the increased demand, Sun Country will begin flying the larger Boeing 737 variant, the 737-900. With the larger aircraft, Sun Country will have a larger fleet roster to meet the demands for the added routes.
A Growing Domestic And International Network
Sun Country has been adding a handful of domestic routes over the past year however, they lacked much of a Canadian presence, only offering flights to Vancouver. That will change in 2024, with Sun Country offering service to Montreal (YUL) and Toronto (YYZ) from MSP beginning June 2024 pending regulatory approval. Passengers can now book online through September 10,2024. A noteworthy schedule change will take place, with Sun Country switching operations from Houston Interconnectional (IAH) to Houston Hobby effective spring 2024. The eight new destinations announced by Sun Country will include service from MSP to:
- Albuquerque (ABQ) 2x weekly
- Billings (BIL) 2x weekly
- Boise (BOI) 2x weekly
- Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) 4x weekly
- Grand Rapids (GRR), 2x weekly
- Missoula(MSO) 2x weekly
- Oakland (OAK) 2x weekly
- Syracuse (SYR) 2x weekly
