Taiwan operator STARLUX will begin an interline partnership with American Airlines. This announcement comes shortly after STARLUX announced nonstop service from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) to Taipei. The two airlines will operate an interline agreement offering passengers a single ticket booking and through checked luggage.
Is There More To Come?
One has to speculate and wonder if there is more to come of this partnership. Currently STARLUX has a very robust partnership with Oneworld operator Alaska Airlines. Being a founding Oneworld member, American Airlines has a bit of sway who they let into their alliance. Will STARLUX eventually join Oneworld? Time will tell. Currently though the interline agreement and Phoenix flights are strategically timed to offer connections onto American Airlines network to destinations like New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, Charlotte, Miami, Dallas, and Las Vegas. Currently 40 plus destinations can be timed with the Taipei flight. Time will tell if the partnership further expands, but it is off to a great start to say the least.
