Alaska Airlines will be joining the complimentary Wi-Fi game following American, Delta and United‘s roll out of free Wi-Fi. Starting in 2026 Alaska will began upfitting the first batch of aircraft with Starlink aiming for a completion timeline of 2027. This included Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines Aircraft. The Wi-Fi will be free as long as you are part of Alaska’s revamped rewards program, Atmos Rewards.
Fleetwide High Speed Wi-Fi
Cell phone provider T-Mobile has invested heavily in using Starlink for their celluar connectivity. It comes as no surprise that they will be teaming up with Alaska Airlines for Starlink Wi-Fi. T-Mobile will be sponsoring the free Wi-Fi. To connect, passengers will need to have or create a free Atmos rewards account (formally Alaska Milage Plan). Once signed in, Wi-Fi can be accessed with ads. If you are a T-Mobile customer in addition to being an Atmos Rewards member, Wi-Fi will be ad free, a nice exclusive perk if you ask me! “This collaboration goes beyond a typical sponsorship – it’s a shared commitment between two hometown leaders focused on delivering more value, innovation and ease to travelers across the Pacific Northwest and beyond. At T-Mobile, our mission is to be the best in the world at connecting customers to their world – and together with Alaska, we’re going one step further by extending the same seamless, in-flight Wi-Fi experience our customers love to every Atmos Rewards member.” Now no specific timeline has been given on what aircraft will be retrofitted first, but given Alaska’s ambitious timeline expect more details to emerge in the coming months.
