Southwest Airlines is getting a big cabin makeover. Starting in 2025, new seats and an overhauled interior design will be installed on newly delivered aircraft. Southwest Airlines will partner with design partner Tangerine, on the new design pallet while aircraft seat manufacturer RECARO will supply the new seats. The new cabin design is slated to begin in early 2025.
A Completely Redesigned Cabin
Southwest Airlines will redesign existing Boeing 737-800 and 737 MAX 8 aircraft in addition to new build 737 MAX 7 and 8 aircraft. The RECARO seats will include an adjustable headrest cushion, personal device holder and USB charging. Signature Southwest Airline colors will be present in the cabin such as the deep blue tones and sky blue accents. The signature Southwest Airlines Heart will be debossed on the seat headrests and will be placed on the bulkhead walls. A first for Southwest, a sunray pattern will be on the seats.
We’re delighted to be part of Southwest’s historic journey and next phase in their modernization plan,” said Matt Round, Chief Creative Officer at Tangerine. “We’ve listened to Southwest’s Customers and Employees and responded by creating a distinctive new cabin interior that meets and exceeds their desires. By working closely with Southwest and all suppliers involved, we were able to ensure the design intent was executed in the cabin to the highest possible quality. The stunning result is a testament to what can be achieved through a collaborative spirit from all those involved.”ย Be on the lookout in the near future for these redesigned cabins on select 737-800 and MAX 8 aircraft.
