Redway Airlines will be ceasing operation effective August 31, 2023. Red Way launched flights back in June 2023. Red Way Airlines was created in partnership with Lincoln Airport and GlobalX Air Tours operated by Global Crossing Airlines. Initially Red Way operated flights to Atlanta, Austin, Dallas, Las Vegas, Minneapolis and Orlando. Flights were operated on GlobalX Airbus A320 Aircraft. All flights scheduled after August 31, 2023 have been canceled. Passengers will receive a full refund. In a statement posted on Red Way’s Facebook page regarding the end of operations Red Way states, “Customers do not need to do anything to initiate their refund, this will be done automatically. We expect all refunds to be complete by the end of the week.”
A Challenging Market
Red Way launched in hopes of boosting air service in the Lincoln Nebraska community. Some routes initially launched saw low demand while others such as Las Vegas and Orlando saw strong demand. In a Facebook post Red Way sites that the compounding of costs and lack of resources made continued operations not feasible. This leaves United Airlines as the sole airline out of Lincoln offering nonstop flights to Chicago, Denver and Houston using Embraer Regional Jets. Red Way hopes that their operation out of Lincoln will demonstrate to other airlines interested in Lincoln that there is demand for air travel out of the newly renovated Airport.
