Qantas Airlines has shared more details on the entire cabin design for their ultra long haul product, “Project Sunrise” debuting on the Airbus A350-1000ULR. Back in February, Qantas unveiled the First and Business class offerings. Now, Qantas has released renderings of the Premium Economy and Economy cabins. Also shown is the first of its kind wellbeing zone located mid cabin. Qantas will operate the A350’s on routes with flight times in excess of 20 hours. As a result, the configuration will be premium dense with lots of space to stretch out. Qantas estimates that Project Sunrise flights will cut down point to point travel time by over 3 hours compared to routes with stopovers.
Premium Economy
There will be 40 seats in the Premium Economy cabin. Seats will feature 40″ of pitch, 8″ winged headrests for added privacy, two high speed power outlets and an inflight entertainment screen spanning 13.3 inches. The screens will be Bluetooth capable. Seat fabric will be in a grey and white color scheme. Qantas specifically picked these colors to emulate a calming environment.
Wellbeing Zone
Located mid cabin is a bespoke designed wellbeing zone. In this space passengers can leave their seat and use the integrated stretch handles and follow a guided on screen exercise routine. A cabinet with refreshments and a hydration area is located in this area. Qantas began working on this dedicated space prior to any other section of the cabin.
Economy
Economy cabin will comprise of 140 seats with 33″ of seat pitch. A large 13″ inflight entertainment screen will be at each seat along with USB power outlets. In all cabins including economy, complimentary high speed Wi-Fi will be available.
Project Sunrise aircraft will operate long haul routes such as London to Sydney and New York to Sydney. With estimated flight times reaching 22 hours, the Project Sunrise offerings make the long duration pass by with the various products to choose from. With the new products and aircraft coming, more routes that have never been paired before may be in the pipeline in the coming years.
