Porter Airlines will soon be flying to five new sunny Florida destinations, just in time to escape the cold winter weather. Back in February Porter Airlines commenced Embraer E195-E2 jet operations. Now the Canadian airline will take advantage of the aircrafts full range capabilities. Porter will use the aircraft on new nonstop routes from Toronto Pierson International Airport (YYZ) to Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers (RSW), Orlando (MCO) and Tampa (TPA). Porter will also launch nonstop flights from Ottawa International Airport (YOW) to Fort Lauderdale (FLL), and Orlando (MCO).
Big Aircraft And Expansions For Porter
Prior to Porter Airlines entering the Embraer E195-E2 into service, the backbone of the fleet was the De Havilland Q-400 turboprop aircraft. This aircraft allows Porter to operate out of Toronto Billy Bishop Island Airport, an airfield inaccessible by most aircraft. The one downside of the Q-400 aircraft is the lack of range compared to larger jets. With Porter’s purchase of the E195-E2 jets the airline quickly launched long distance routes from Toronto Pierson to places like Vancouver. With the new Florida routes Porter can fill 132 seats in an all economy configuration. Porter touts that they will be the only airline in Canada offering flights to Florida without a middle seats.
