Philippine Airlines has selected the Airbus A350-1000 as the airline’s future long haul aircraft. A memorandum of understanding has been signed with Airbus for nine A350-1000s. Currently, Philippine Airlines operates two slightly smaller A350-900s throughout Asia, Australia and north America. The Airbus A350-1000 aircraft will fulfil ultra long haul missions from Manilla to the east coast in the United States and Canada. In a press release by Airbus, Stanley K. Ng, President and CEO of Philippine Airlines stated that that the range of the A350-1000 would enable the airline to fly non-stop transpacific and transpolar routes in both directions all year. The aircraft will be configured in a premium layout with a separate Business Class, Premium Economy and Economy cabins. Qantas has revealed a similar layout for their future A350s. As of April 2023, the Airbus A350 Family has secured 928 firm orders from 54 customers worldwide.
