Airline lounges are a hot commodity in the travel industry with almost every major airline and credit card company opening up lounges across the globe. Airline alliances are no exception, entering into this contested market. When talking airline alliances, the three major players, Sky Team, Star Alliance, and oneworld are competing in the lounge segment. The Oneworld Alliance has opened their first dedicated lounge in Seoul.

A First For Oneworld

Just in time for Oneworld Alliance’s 25th anniversary, the lounge will welcome eligible oneworld Emerald and Sapphire customers departing from Seoul onย oneworld flights, as well as First and Business Class customers travelling withย oneworld member airlines. The 148 seat lounge spans 555 square meters offering a welcoming modern design. The lounge is configured in distinct zones with areas to relax, eat, or work. Interestingly the space features mood lighting that is dependent on the time of day. This is commonly seen inside aircraft, not lounges however. Tatiana Otani Nishi, D/DOCK Interior Designer, said: โ€œThrough careful design, with features reflecting its South Korean location we have delivered a modern and original premium lounge experience which makes travel feel easy, comfortable and enjoyable.โ€ While no other lounges have been announced, there may be more oneworld lounges opening in the near future.
