One Of The Most Hated Regional Aircraft Slated For Retirement This Year

,

One of the most disliked aircraft by passengers is slated for retirement this year. The Bombardier CRJ-200 will be leaving the Delta Connection fleet by the end of 2023. The CRJ-200 is equipped with 50 seats and is best known for its cramped cabin and limited overhead bin spaces resulting in the dreaded gate checking bags.

Retiring the CRJ-200 will further simplify Delta Airlines regional aircraft fleet making them the only major carrier in the United States to offer a 3 class regional product across the fleet. Many routes flown on the CRJ-200 have already been upgraded to larger CRJ-700 and CRJ-900s or even mainline aircraft in some instances. Currently subsidiary Endeavour Air lists only 19 remaining aircraft in the fleet. While disliked by many, the aircraft has played an important roll in connecting smaller communities to larger airports. We will provide updates on the exact retirement date when it is announced.
