Norse Atlantic Airways has announced a massive expansion out of London Gatwick Airport (LGW) totaling 4 new destinations to the United States, 7 destinations out of Gatwick in total. Norse Atlantic currently operates flights from London Gatwick to New York JFK. Norse has also previously announced flights to Orlando International Airport (MCO) and Fort Lauderdale (FLL). London Gatwick has seen a gap in transatlantic flights to the United States after Virgin Atlantic left Gatwick and consolidated at London Heathrow (LHR). According to Norse Atlantic, the most recent expansion at London Gatwick is expected to create over 370 new jobs. All routes will be operated exclusively onboard the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. The new routes, launch dates and frequency are as follows:
London Gatwick LGW
- Boston Logan (BOS) September 2ed 6X weekly
- Los Angeles (LAX) June 30th daily
- San Francisco (SFO) July 1st 3X weekly
- Washington DC (IAD) June 1st 5X weekly
Norse Atlantic Airways also operates routes to the United States from Berlin, Oslo, Paris and Rome. Norse allows passengers the option to only pay for what they need including seat selection, meals and baggage. We have flown Norse from New York JFK to Berlin Brandenburg and have found their product to be one of the most affordable transatlantic offerings. Norse will see some competition in London Gatwick with JetBlue flying to Boston and New York while Delta Air Lines will be flying to New York. The low cost transatlantic market will prove itself in the coming years with Norse Atlantic and other airlines like Play and FrenchBee tapping into this competitive market.
