United States based passenger charter and cargo operator iAero Airways will cease operations on Saturday April 6, 2024. In 2023, the operator attempted to restructure under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. iAero was the largest charter and cargo operator in the United States primarily operating sports and government charters as well as cargo operations.
End Of An Era
iAero Airways initially began as Swift Air commencing operations in 1997 utilizing Boeing 737-400 aircraft configured in low density VIP-configurations. In 2017 Swift Air became acquired by iAero group. Under iAero Group, the FAA part Part 121 Air Carrier provided sports charters, vacation operator charter flights and offered Aircraft, Crew and Maintenance solutions (ACMI). iAero had over 40 737 aircraft including the Boeing 737-300 classic, 737-400 classic as well as the Boeing 737-800 in both passenger and freighter configurations. A small sub fleet of Boeing 737-800 freighter aircraft flew cargo contracts for DHL. With the demise of iAero Airways, the charter contracts will be up for grabs from other charter operators like GlobalX Sun Country and even Breeze Airways. iAero’s final day of operation will be on April 6,2024, marking the end of an era for the once dominant charter operator.
