Frontier Airlines will start a new seating policy that will ensure families are seated together. The new policy will ensure that children are seated with at least one responsible adult in their party. According to the airline, one parent will automatically be seated with any children under the age of 14 in their party. Before the check in window opens, Frontier will automatically assign seats based on the family members ages at no extra charge. Passengers also have the option to select seats together for a fee. Frontier has other family friendly options through their Discount Den travel club program. Discount Den members enjoy an exclusive perk where members children fly for free on select flights, as long as the child is under the age of 14 years old.
A Welcome Change In The Airline Industry
Traveling with young children can be stressful at times. Frontier Airlines joins United Airlines with their complete overhaul of their family seating policies. Breeze airways has also modified their policy allowing adults traveling with children under 12 years old to select seats free of charge at the time of booking. These new policy’s come in wake of the remarks president Joe Biden has made during the state of the union address. President Biden scolded airlines airlines for charging additional fees for children being able to sit with their families. Biden stated,” they cant just treat your child like a piece of luggage”, referring to the additional fees airlines have charged. In June of 2022 the Department of Transportation issued a notice titled Notice Encouraging U.S. Airlines to Have Policies that Enable Children To Be Seated Adjacent to an Accompanying Adult. Other airlines may soon roll out their own dedicated family seating policy similar to Breeze Airways, Frontier Airlines and United Airlines. Each of the mentioned Airlines and the DOT notice can be found below.
