To say the Ultra Low Cost Carrier landscape is rapidly evolving might just be the understatement of the year. Operators are making radical changes such as blocking middle seats in the front of the cabin and introducing free Wi-Fi for premium passengers. Frontier Airlines will be introducing first class seating in the first two rows of their aircraft beginning late 2025.
Big Changes Ahead
Frontier Airlines hopes to shift the perception of the typical North American Ultra Low Cost Carrier (ULCC). The airline is adding things that are usually seen on a legacy carrier such as complimentary upgrades for elite members. It is currently unknown what other amenities will be included with the first class product. If it is anything like Spirit Airlines Big Front Seat product, the seat will be a strong value for the money. Other changes are on the horizon for Frontier. Platinum and Diamond Elite members will be able to fly with a companion at no additional coast starting mid 2025. Barry Biffle, CEO, Frontier Airlines had this to say about the upcoming changes; โWe’ve listened to customers, and they want more – more premium options, like first class seating, attainable seat upgrades, more free travel for their companions, and the ability to use miles on more than just airfare. These changes represent an exciting new chapter in our transformation intoย The New Frontier.โ
