Ever get the feeling of Deja Vu? It was only a few years ago that a small airport in Lincoln Nebraska launched nonstop service to Orlando and destinations beyond with the very short lived Red Way Airlines. After the routes struggled to gain traction and the ARPA subsidies ran dry, the airline abruptly shut down. There was one route however that did see much success, Lincoln to Orlando. Fast forward to July 29, 2025 and Lincoln Airport has announced nonstop service to Orlando by Breeze Airways. Flights will commence December 10th.
A Second Airline For Nebraska’s Second Busiest Airport
Just a mere 60 minutes up the road is Omaha’s airport which offers a handful of destinations by mainline operators. Meanwhile Lincoln is only served by United Airlines operating regional jet service to Chicago and Denver. Prior to launching Red Way flights the airport underwent a multimillion renovation of the gate areas and ticketing area. For the new service to Orlando International Airport (MCO) Breeze Airways will be given a Minimum Revenue Guarantee of $3.75 million to support the service and any future routes out of Lincoln by the airline. Minimum Revenue Guarantee (MRG) program to the new airline. The MRG will provide Breeze with a maximum of $3.75 million. In an interview with local Lincoln news outlet KLIN News Talk the subsidies were further explained. This is a smart investment in connectivity,” said Rachel Barth, Director of Air Service Development and Strategic Marketing for LNK. “Minimum revenue guarantees like this are industry standard and have helped airports across the country attract and retain successful new service. Plus Breeze Airlines is no stranger to Lincoln; they frequently fly our Husker sports charters. Very common for me to look out the window and see our Nebraska Volleyball team or one of the basketball teams loading up on their beautiful A220.” Honestly out of all the airlines for Lincoln to want to work with Breeze Airways has alot going for them. Their A220 offers a quiet ride with pretty affordable fares. There is the option to upgrade to the roomier Breeze Ascent First class product which offers first class seats in a 2 by 2 layout. Introductory fares for the new route can be found on Breeze’s website for as low as $79. Not too bad of a deal to escape the cold winter weather!
