Delta Air Lines and El AL Israel Airlines have launched a strategic codeshare partnership on flights between the United States. In addition to codeshare flights, passengers will soon be able to share frequent flyer benefits and can redeem miles on both airlines. According to Delta Air Lines, passengers connecting onwards on Delta or EL Al flights will be able to check in only once for their entire trip. Boarding passes and bags can be checked all the way through to their final destination.
A Strategic Decision
Delta Air Lines has been making strategic partnerships with airlines outside the SkyTeam alliance including South American carrier LATAM. The airline recently announced a codeshare partnership with Delta. As with the LATAM partnership, El AL and Delta passengers have connection opportunities from Tel Aviv via Atlanta, Boston, and New York JFK. Matteo Curop, Delta’s Senior VP for Europe, Middle East Africa and India had this to say about the strategic partnership, โEnhanced partnerships are integral to our long-term strategy to better connect Delta customers around the world.โ More details may follow over the coming months as the partnership evolves. For now, there are expanded codeshare options to fly between the two countries.
