Starting fall 2024 Delta Air Lines will embark on a major nose to tail overhaul of their cabins. Everything from fresh seating materials to new colors in the cabin will be redesigned. Delta’s redesigned cabins will initially debut on a Boeing 757 aircraft that will operate on domestic and short haul international routes. Beginning in early 2025, a second aircraft, an Airbus A350 will be retrofitted and will operate on long haul international routes. Additional aircraft will begin the retrofit process over the next few years.

What Aircraft Will See The Redesign

Deltaโ€™s new cabin design will first debut on a narrowbody Boeing 757 aircraft that will begin flying on domestic and short haul international routes later this fall. In early 2025, a widebody Airbus A350 will debut with the new design on long haul international routes. On the Airbus A350s there will be memory-foam cushions in Delta One. โ€œDelta has a 100-year history of creating a customer experience that feels welcoming and thoughtful with intentional design elements woven into every aspect of a customerโ€™s travel,โ€ said Mauricio Parise, Vice President โ€“ Customer Experience Design. โ€œAs we embark on our next century of flying, this refreshed cabin interior infuses utility with beauty to create an atmosphere that feels fresh, elevated, and timeless while reflecting our customersโ€™ evolving tastes and expectations.โ€ย

On widebody Aircraft, there will be clear brand identifiers for Delta One and Premium Select. It will use a celestial sky like pattern on the walls. Delta Air Lines has been heavily investing in mood lighting lately, with the majority of their fleet already featuring mood lighting. The lighting will be enhanced and will have setting for each phase of flight. Restrooms will also feature mood lighting, and a similar color pallet reflecting the rest of the cabin. โ€œEvery flight is different, so weโ€™ve focused on creating warm, calming and atmospheric lighting options that create an environment for customers to rest and relax, or stay productive as they wish,โ€ said Parise. โ€œFor boarding, weโ€™ve focused on the โ€˜moment of decelerationโ€™ โ€“ warm and inviting lighting that makes the cabin appear spacious and open. At mealtimes, we queue hues that feel like youโ€™re at a candlelit dinner โ€“ making meals more natural and inviting. As the lights dim for sleep, we borrow from the sunset and slowly remove blue light while bringing in warm amber tones which are reminiscent of a sunset glow. When itโ€™s time to wake up, the cabin slowly brightens into morning and daylight.โ€ These changes will bring Delta’s already solid onboard product a step further. Let us know what you think about the darker, new interior colors replacing Delta’s blue and white colors.
