Delta Air Lines is rolling out free international Wi-Fi on on select long-haul international routes. This summer select Viasat equipped long haul aircraft will sport the fast free Wi-Fi on routes to the United Kingdom, Germany, Netherlands, Spain and Italy. Additional aircraft and long haul routes are expected to receive free Wi-Fi by years end.
Increased Inflight Connectivity
Delta has made a big push this past year, implementing free Wi-Fi on over 700 aircraft which accounts for more than 90% of the domestic mainline fleet. Additional international routes will be phased into the new free Wi-Fi as grater service coverage becomes avialable in coming year. During the initial roll out phase the international Wi-Fi portal will not require a SkyMiles log in credential however, the portal will require a SkyMiles login. With the login, SkyMiles members can take advantage of Delta Sync, offering exclusive onboard experiences and offers in addition to the free Wi-Fi. “As we continue to roll out fast, free Wi-Fi and the in-flight experiences it powers, we’re able to serve customers traveling both domestically and internationally in new, in-the-moment ways,” says Ranjan Goswami, S.V.P. – Customer Experience Design. “The scale at which we’re bringing free Wi-Fi to customers is unmatched in the airline industry, and it’s a testament to the incredible efforts of Delta teams across the business that have expertly navigated an extremely complex rollout.” Lastly, the airline provided some welcome news. The Boeing 717, which is the only Delta mainline aircraft without in seat entertainment will also be receiving free high speed Wi-Fi on select regional routes beginning 2025.
