Delta Air Lines is betting big on the Austin market adding 11 new peak daily flights from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS), a 20% increate in seat capacity. The added capacity and new routes will begin April, 2024. The announcement comes shortly after American Airlines announced route cuts out of Austin.
A Strategic Market
Austin will transform into a strategic market for Delta. The airport will be a “key access point” to facilitate connections to Delta‘s larger network. For example, on the new Midland and McAllen Texas routes will be able to connect to nearly 50 nonstop flights to 15 airports including every Delta Air Lines hub. This also includes routes to Las Vegas and Orlando. Internationally passengers will be able to connect to Amsterdam (AMS) and Mexico City (MEX). The new routes primarily flown by three class regional jets with the following schedule:
Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) to:
- Cincinnati (CVG) increaced to 2x daily.
- McAllen (MFE) new route 3x daily.
- Midland-Odessa (MAF) new route 3x daily.
- Nashville (BNA) new route3x daily.
- Raleigh-Durham (RDU) increased to 3x daily.
