Delta Air Lines has recently took delivery of their 100th Airbus A321neo produced in the United States. Airbus started production for the A320neo family of aircraft in the United States back in 2015 to supplement production lines in France, Germany and China. In Mobile Alabama alone the facility estimates over 1,600 local jobs. In a Delta Air Lines press release Kristen Bojko, V.P. Fleet for Delta Air Lines stated, โDeltaโs 100th U.S.-produced A321 aircraft is a significant milestone that reinforces our commitment to flying more fuel-efficient aircraft while investing in quality U.S.-based jobs.โ โฏBoth Airbus and Delta credit the recent A321 orders for the job growth in Airbus’s Mobile Alabama factory. Delta currently has 155 aircraft on order serving domestic routes across their network.
A New Onboard Product
A whole new domestic First Class product debuted on the A321neos. The new seats were reviewed last year, offering 20 seats with a winged shell design offering privacy and comfort. 45 extra legroom seats branded as Comfort+ offer additional legroom. Compared to outgoing aircraft the A321neos offer more comfort+ seats further differentiating the aircraft from the competition. Overall, Delta Airlines Airbus A321neos bring additional American jobs while further differentiating their onboard product from the competition.
