Delta Air Lines and LATAM have announced new south American routes as part of a joint venture between the two carriers. Over 75% increased capacity is expected following the implementation of the new routes from Miami (MIA) and Atlanta. The expansions stem from a joint venture that launched back in 2019. Following the coronavirus pandemic, Delta Air Lines acquired a 20% stake in LATAM. A handful of routes to south America have been announced including:
- Daily Miami – Medellin.
- 3 x weekly Atlanta – Cartagena
- 3 x weekly Atlanta – Lima.
- A second daily Atlanta – Bogota.
A Growing Joint Venture
According to Delta, the partnership, “generates industry-leading connectivity, linking more than 200 North American destinations served by Delta to the more than 120 South American destinations served by LATAM.” For flights to South American regions LATAM group operates over 102 flights per week out of Miami to over 5 cities and growing. More routes are in the pipeline including flights from Orlando (MCO) to Borgata and Las Angeles to Sao Paulo.
