Monumental Progress On The Silver Line
The DART Silver Line spans 26 miles serving the Dallas suburbs of Grapevine, Coppell, Dallas, Carrollton Addison, Richardson and Plano and DFW Airport. Connections can be made to TEXRail commuter trains in addition Dallas DFW airport. Similar to the TEXRail rolling stock (fleet), the new trains are built by Swiss rail manufacturer Stadler at their Salt Lake City Plant. Trainsets are powered by EPA Tier-4 Ultra Low Emissions compliant electric diesel multiple-unit-powered (DMU) engines. Each train can seat up to 235 passengers in a similar layout to the TEXRail Stadler Trains. Much like a new aircraft or car, stringent testing is completed prior to revenue service commencing in 2025. โIt’s exciting for everyone associated with this project because this means weโre that much closer to opening for revenue service and having passengers on these new trains,โ said Anthony Fuller, vice president of Silver Line maintenance and operation.ย
