Avelo Airlines will be adding a new aircraft, crew and maintenance base at Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport (STS) in California. The ultra low cost carrier will base two Boeing 737s and 50 crewmembers on the airfield. The base is expected to open May 1, 2023. While no specific routes have been announced, the airline expects to add new routes in the coming months.
Growing Capacity In The Bay Area
Since 2021, Avelo has carried 300,000 passengers through STS serving weekly flights to Bend / Redmond (RDM), Las Vegas (LAS), Los Angeles / Burbank, CA (BUR) and Palm Springs (PSP). Just in time for the upcoming Super Bowl LVII in Las Vegas, Avelo will operate an additional roundtrip flight from STS to Las Vegas on February 9 as well as an additional roundtrip flight on February 12. Base fares can be found for as low as $78.00.
