Avelo Airlines is showing no signs of slowing down their growth out of the Connecticut region. The airline has grown to over thirty routes out of their Tweed New Haven base as well as adding eight routes and counting out of their recently opened Hartford Connecticut base. Avelo will add 4 new nonstop routes out of New Haven and a third nonstop international route out of Hartford. Introductory base fares can be found for as low as $39 on select flights
A Brewing Turf War In New Haven
There seems to be a turf war brewing at Tweed New Haven. Starting December 10th, 2024 Avelo Airlines will no longer be the sole operator out of Tweed. Breeze Airways announced 10 nonstop routes out of New Haven including six to Florida. Routes including New Haven to Charleston, Fort Myers, Jasonville, New Orleans, Orlando, Raleigh, Sarasota and West Palm Beach. Interestingly in Avelo Airlines latest route announcement out of New Haven, they will go head to head with Breeze Airways offering nonstop flights to Jacksonville. To meet the demand for new air service, Avelo will base a seventh Boeing 737 at Tweed. Over the next coming months, it will be interesting to see how the compaction between the two airlines play out at Tweed New Haven.
Expanding International Service In Hartford
Avelo Airlines seems to divide their Connecticut air service into two different operations. On the New Haven front, the airline operates domestic flights whereas in Hartford they operate both domestic and international service. Currently Avelo flights two international routes out of Hartford, Cancun and Montego Bay. The airline will now offer weekly service to Punta Cana (PUJ). Flights will operate Fridays and Mondays beginning February 21, 2025. Avelo Airlines Founder and CEO Andrew Levyย said, โWe love Connecticut and are excited to continue expanding our presence here with these five new exclusive destinations. With 39 route choices, Avelo offers Connecticut travelers more choice, affordability and convenience than any other airline operating in the state. And when you couple that with our industry-leading reliability, it doesnโt surprise us that nearly 3 million Customers have entrusted Avelo with their air travel since we took flight here three years ago. Aveloโs purpose is to Inspire Travel, and we are very optimistic about the opportunities ahead of us to make air travel easier, more affordable and more dependable for people across Connecticut.โ Below are the new routes launching of Tweed New Haven:
