Avelo Airlines is continuing growth at their Tweed New Haven base. In the past two years, Avelo has added over 25 destinations out of the southern Connecticut airport. Now, Avelo Airlines will begin twice weekly non-stop service to Washington D.C Dulles International Airport operating Mondays and Fridays. Flights will begin on July 12, 2024 with introductory fares starting as low as $46.
Increased Connectivity To The DC Region
The new route was announced at Airports Council Internationalโs JumpStartยฎ Air Service Development Conference. The conference had over 400 airports and airlines in attendance. This will be the second route to the D.C. area out of New Haven. Avelo Airlines also offers nonstop service to Baltimore Washington International Airport (BWI) from New Haven on Sundays and Thursdays. While not directly in Washington D.C. BWI Airport is easily accessible to the nations capital by commuter rail. Similarly, Washington Dulles Airport (IAD) is a quick 45 minute ride into downtown D.C on the newly opened WMATA Silver Line. Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont said, โThe addition of more destinations from Tweed helps expand access to the New Haven region, which means more opportunities to increase our economic viability and enhance business growth. Aveloโs continued growth in Connecticut is helping to strengthen connectivity for companies that are already here and will stimulate further regional development.โ
