A Route Long Time In The Making

Austrian Airlines new service to Boston is significant for many reasons. Notably this is Boston Logan International Airport’s 54th international destination. In meeting the increased growth, the airport recently expanded Terminal E adding seven gates allowing for airlines like Austrian to operate flights to Boston.ย โ€œWe are excited to announce Boston as a new and highly attractive destination. This expansion enhances our long-haul offering and strengthens the Vienna hub. Bostonโ€™s world-renowned universities, including Harvard and MIT, business connections, and the cityโ€™s unparalleled charm make it a fascinating and enticing travel destination. Additionally, it will be even easier for visitors and tourists from New England to come to Vienna in the future,โ€ said Michael Trestl, Chief Commercial Officer of Austrian Airlines. Norbert Kettner, Managing Director of Vienna Tourist Board, had the following remarks to give, โ€œAs a medium-sized capital of a small country, Vienna can succeed in tourism and overall economically only through its connection to international transport routes. In 2024, Vienna will continue to be a globally connected city โ€“ the new Boston flight of our strategic partner Austrian Airlines provides a strong boost for both leisure tourism and the conference sector. Viennaโ€™s tourism is once again as international as it was before the pandemic. The USA, which is Viennaโ€™s most important long-distance market and was already above its pre-pandemic level in 2023, played a major role in this.โ€
