It is not just the large aircraft manufacturers getting attention and orders at the Dubai Air Show. Franco Italian aircraft manufacturer Avions de transport régional or simply put ATR has grown their order book by an additional 20 ATR 72-600 aircraft. Irish based lessor Abelo has entered into a Heads of Agreement for a firm order of 10 ATR-72-600s with options for an additional 10 aircraft. No airline lessee has been announced as of yet.
Steady Growth For The ATR Family
The ATR family of turboprop aircraft has been gaining steady traction. Back in June 2023 at the Paris Air Show, ATR announced the ATR HighLine flexible cabin configuration. Most recently, ATR orders have picked up with orders from Azul, Air New Zealand, Mandarin Airlines and Maldives Maldivian for the ATR-42 and ATR-72. Berjaya also recently ordered ATRs and became the launch customer for the all premium cabin configuration as part of the ATR HighLine cabin configuration. In the United States finding an airline that operates ATRs is slim picking however, with Silver Airways being the sole United States ATR 42 and ATR 72 operator.
