Amtrak has some exciting prospects in the pipeline. The national rail operator has began replacing trainsets that are reaching the end of their useful service life, including the Acela high speed trainsets. It is not just the trains however that are getting a revamp. Amtrak has announced brand new food and beverage offerings aboard the Acela. Upgrades include a redesigned physical menu with locally sourced food offerings and upgraded, more sustainable packaging.
Revamping Amtrak’s Most Premium Train
It comes to no surprise that Amtrak is focusing on revamping the Acela experience. The high speed train operates on the premium yielding Northeast corridor connecting Boston to New York and Washington DC. First Class passengers on the Acela recently saw a revamped menu with locally sourced offerings. Similarly Amtrak is placing an emphasis on sourcing the food offerings locally for the new Cafe Acela menu. For breakfast new items include; Overnight oats, egg frittata, pastries from local bakeries in Boston, New York City and Washington, D.C. Lunch and dinner items include; Mediterranean salad, peppered turkey sandwich, chicken & mozzarella pesto sandwich. New wines such as Daou chardonnay and Banshee pinot noir will also be available. “Customers riding on our premium Acela trains expect the very best and thus, it’s essential we continue to evolve our premium offerings and amenities to meet their needs and provide an enhanced experience,” said Amtrak Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer Eliot Hamlisch.
