Alaska Airlines has been making a lot of buzz in the news recently following the announcements of a looming acquisition of Hawaiian Airlines. As the regulatory fine tuning is yet to be ironed out, another exciting milestone has been announced at Alaska Airlines. A Growing Partnership Between Alaska & Porter Airlines
This past year, Porter Airlines has seen tremendous growth following the launch of their first jet aircraft, the Embraer E195E2. After acquiring the jet in Early 2023, Porter set their sights on new routes across Canada and the Continental United States. Looking to further broaden Porter’s network, the airline recently announced a Joint Venture with Canadian long-haul airline Air Transat.
Meanwhile Alaska Airlines has been undergrowing significant growth of their own, Joining the Oneworld alliance and creating a West Coast International Alliance with American Airlines. Effective December 13, 2023 Alaska Airlines will allow Alaskaโs Mileage Plan members to earn points on Porter flights booked via Alaska Airlines from January 2024 onward. Later on in 2024 2024 both VIPorter and Mileage Plan members will be able to earn miles in their respective loyalty programs no matter where they book their flights.
Increased Connectivity
Beginning January 2024, passengers will be passengers can fly from Toronto Pierson (YYZ) directly into major Alaska Airlines hubs like Los Angeles and San Francisco. Existing Destinations such as Boston and New York will offer connections to 18 western U.S markets like Portland, San Diego, Seattle, and Phoenix. Additional Canadian airports will be integrated starting early 2024. This will further broaden a passenger’s reach under a single booking through one carrier the entire way, a great perk overall.
