Airbus has officially inaugurated their new A320 family final assembly line in Toulouse France. According to Airbus, this final assembly line alone will contribute to the increased production rate of up to 75 A320 family of aircraft per month by 2026. Airbus also recently expanded their production line in China to meet the growing demand for orders in the Asia Pacific region.
A Strategic Growth Strategy
There is high demand for the A320 family of aircraft across the globe. In particular, the A321neo and its subsequent variants has received orders from United Airlines, Icelandair and more. Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury states that the A321 “currently represents around 60 percent of the total A320 Family backlog.โ This will bring Airbus to ten final assembly lines throughout the globe. This includes four final assembly lines in Germany, two in France, two in the United States and two in China. As airlines look to modernize their fleets, aviation manufactures like Airbus expand their global footprints to meet the increased demand.
