Privately owned Brightline has began 125 MPH testing on their new Orlando extension. The testing is being conducted along the new 35-mile dedicated rail corridor through Orange and Brevard Counties. This portion does not have any grade crossings adding an extra layer of safety and reduces vehicle congestion. The testing is expected to continue throughout the springtime. Brightline is partnering with the local community and the news media to promote rail safety to the general public, as the current route between Miami and West Palm Beach operates trains at an excess of 110 MPH. Starting in late 2023 the new Orlando extension is expected to be open to the public connecting Miami and Orlando with a few intermediate stops. Recently Brightline released renderings of their Orlando International Airport station. The railroad is making great progress preparing for the route extension with the 10th final trainset arriving at Brightline’s facility from Siemens Mobility. Brightline has also started construction their west coast line called Brightline West connecting Las Angles to Las Vegas. This is exciting news for the only privatized railroad in the United States.
