United Airlines Fined $1.1M By FAA

,

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has proposed a $1,149,306 fine against United Airlines for allegedly conducting flights between June 2018 to April 2021 aboard Boeing 777 aircraft that were not airworthy. In a press release on February 6th, the FAA alleges that in 2018 United Airlines removed the fire warning system check item from the Boeing 777 preflight checklist. This check is required in the maintenance specifications manual. With this safety check removed, the FAA deems the aircraft as not airworthy or in laymen’s terms, legally unfit to fly. United Airlines has been given 30 days to respond to the enforcement notice regarding the FAAs allegations.
