Exciting changes are ahead for Amtrak’s Acela. Shiny new trains will be hitting the tracks in the coming weeks. The NextGen trainsets will initially operate alongside legacy Acela Express trains. Amtrak is making it easy to find out which train will sport the NextGen Acela when booking online.
How To Know If You Will Be On The Next Gen Acela
Amtrak is making it very easy to tell if your Acela train will be on the new Acela. The new trains will be denoted with a “NextGen” tag on Amtrak.com and the Amtrak app. Alternatively, when booking you can look for the train numbers 2153, 2154 and 2173 if traveling on the weekdays. On Saturdays look for train numbers 2250 and 2251. On Sunday trains look for 2248, 2258 and 2251. A screenshot has been provided below, photo credits to Amtrak, showing how to find the new trains.
