American Airlines will be adding six new international routes to Europe and South America for the busy 2026 Summer travel season. New destinations include Prague (PRG), Budapest (BUD), Athens (ATH), Milan (MXP); and Zurich (ZRH). American will also extended seasonal service to Buenos Aires (EZE) through Summer 2026. Tickets for the new routes will be available for purchase starting Aug. 11.
Doubling Down On Europe
Traditionally American Airlines has not been as strong internationally as say United Airlines who has been rapidly expanding trans pacific and Atlantic routes. Next may American’s Philadelphia hub will be home to the new Budapest and Prague routes. Flights will operate on American Airlines smallest widebody aircraft, the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner. Flights to Buenos Aires and Athens will operate out of Dallas Fort Worth using Boeing 777 and 787 Dreamliners. Service to Zurich from Dallas will operate Summer seasonal from May 21 to Aug. 4, 2026. “Customers continue to tell us that Europe is where they want to go each summer and these new routes make it even easier to cross the Atlantic in 2026,” said Brian Znotins, American’s Senior Vice President of Network and Schedule Planning. “We are excited to grow our network to new destinations like Prague and Budapest and offer even more premium travel experiences on our flights to Tokyo.” Time will tell on how the new routes will perform but given the upcoming world cup and anticipated busy summer travel season, the new routes may see much success.
