Alaska Airlines Boeing 787

Alaska Airlines has announced that the Boeing 787s currently on order from Hawaiian Airlines will be transformed into Alaska Airlines branding, but there’s a twist. The aircraft livery will not feature Alaska Airlines current Eskimo on the tail. The 787 Dreamliners will feature a modern design inspired by the Aurora Borealis aka the Northern Lights. Currently, only the 787 Dreamliners will receive the updated livery beginning in 2026 while other Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines aircraft will retain the current livery.

New Routes To Iceland And London From Seattle

Coinciding with the special livery, Alaska has officially announced London and Reykjavik out of Seattle. Flights to London will be operated on the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner and will operate in collaboration with fellow Oneworld members American Airlines and British Airways. Flights to Reykjavik will be operated by the smaller Boeing 737-8 MAX. “With these bold moves, we are accelerating our vision to connect our guests to the world. We are seizing this moment to redefine the international experience and level up. And we’re doing it with the same relentless focus on safety, care and performance that’s always defined us. I’m so proud of how our people continue to step up and deliver as we push ahead on these initiatives, with even more to come,” said Ben Minicucci Alaska Airlines CEO. Considering that Alaska recently added Rome and Tokyo, it would not be surprising if we see more long haul destinations out of Seattle as the airline ramps up Boeing 787 operations. In the next few years the airline plans to grow from 4 to 17 787 Dreamliners. Barring no aircraft retirements, this does make growth possible as Alaska and Hawaiian continue with merging the two companies.
