Porter Airlines is showing no signs of slowing down their jet service expansion plans. On October 3, 2024 Porter Airlines officially launched nonstop service between Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX). Flights operate daily with tickets currently on sale at flyporter.com
Growing Porter’s Footprint
Porter Airlines has been growing exponentially this past year. The airline has taken delivery of more Embraer E195-E2 aircraft allowing for new growth opportunities. This is in part due to the fact that the E195-E2 has more than double the range of Porter’s smaller Q400 turboprop aircraft. The larger, faster, more fuel efficient aircraft will usher in new destinations for Porter out of Toronto to places like San Diego (beginning December 9, 2024), Palm Springs (beginning Dec 12, 2024) and West Palm Beach (beginning November 14, 2024). Passengers on the new routes including Phoenix will have the opportunity to travel on Porter’s elevated Porter Reserve product which offers extra legroom and a complementary meal service. โThis inaugural flight from Toronto to Phoenix builds on Porter’s growing Western U.S. presence – now with service in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Palm Springs, San Diego and San Francisco. Our unique approach to economy air travel is something that Arizona will welcome, as we continue delivering on our promise of making flying better,” said Kevin Jackson, president, Porter Airlines. As the airline expands to further destinations, it will be interesting to see if WestJet or Air Canada take notice and if so, how they will respond to Porter’s rapid growth.
