Downton Toronto has a plethora of things to offer including the ever so tall CN tower, Toronto Blue Jays and the Maple Leaf’s. Finding a nearby hotel for these attractions offers many options. A convenient and comfortable option to consider is the Delta Hotels By Marriott Toronto Downtown. The property is conveniently located at 75 Lower Simcoe Street, Toronto. The property was visited on October 31, 2023 to see what Delta Hotels Canadian flagship property is like.
First Impressions
Getting to the Delta Hotels by Marriott Toronto is super easy. Through fully enclosed walkways, the hotel is connected to Union Station which offers local and long distance train service. The station also offers Porter Airlines Shuttle bus service to Billy Bishop Airport. After a quick walk from Union Station, the front lobby offered an expansive space and a swift check in. A special feature of Delta Hotels properties are flavored water packets, a new brand standard that will be introduced across all properties.
The staff member checking us in was swift and helpful, giving us an upper floor corner room. Elevators in the lobby area are separated by floor numbers in an effort to reduce overcrowding and long wait times for elevators. Entering the room, there is a sense of space among the plush furnishings and modern decor. While not the fanciest, the understated nanosphere is crisp and relaxing. As with the rest of the guestroom, the bathroom is clean, crisp and functional.
Lounge
There are various ways to access the club lounge located on the 46th floor. Through Marriott Bonvoy Titanium Elite status, lounge access was included with the room during the visit. The club lounge is fitted with various seating options including couches, high top tables as well as two and four person tables. Towards the rear of the club lounge is a small business center with a printer. During Breakfast time, there is a hot and cold buffet. During mid day, light snacks and drinks are stocked. Around 5PM hors dโoeuvres are served. The food was one of the best hotel lounge foods tasted. The best perk of the club lounge however, the expansive views of Toronto and Lake Ontario.
Nearby Attractions
During the winter time Toronto can become quite cold. A vast array of underground tunnels makes walking in the cold a breeze. The Delta Hotels Toronto is connected to “The Path” which connects major office buildings, the Scotia Bank Arena and Union Station. Throughout The Path are shops and small eateries. Within easy walking distance from the hotel is the aquarium, CN Tower, convention center and the Scotiabank Arena. Also Union Station is a right next-door serving commuter, long distance trains and the TTC subway.
Check-Out
What the Delta Hotels Toronto lacks for in pizazz, it makes up for in many ways. Each staff member encountered was polite and was in a cheerful working mood, something lacking these days in many hotel properties. Both the guestroom and lounge were in impeccable shape, offering more than adequate space for this short stay. Whether visiting Toronto for business or leisure, the location of the hotel is just about perfect, with major tourist and sporting attractions in close proximity. If needing to catch an early morning train to Pierson or shuttle bus to Billy Bishop airport, both options are no more than a 10 minute walk. If looking for a great no nonsense hotel in a prime location, look no further than the Delta Hotels by Marriott Downtown.
