OBB Nightjet Unveils New Sleeper Cabins & First Route

A new generation of overnight Nightjet railcars will be traversing Europe in the coming months. The new trainsets will include revamped sleeper cars featuring a mini cabin with sleeping pods aimed at solo travelers. Nightjet trains operate between the countries of Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland and Switzerland. The new trainsets will be supplied by Siemens Mobility, offering a smoother, cleaner and more assessable ride. The new trains will commence operation on the Nightjet service from Vienna – Hamburg & Innsbruck Hamburg in December 2023. Tickets go on sale October 11, 2023

New Comfortable Sleeper Cars

With the new trainsets, passengers will have various layouts to choose from. In sleeping car comfort plus, passengers can enjoy a spacious compartment with two built in beds, comfortable seating and an in-suite bathroom with a shower. In cleeping car comfort branded rooms passengers can book a single or bunk bed style room with in-suite bathrooms and showers as well. Solo travelers can now have the option to sleep in a pod like structure named “mini cabin.” The mini cabin is equipped with sleeping pods, lockers for shoes and luggage as well as a folding table for breakfast. The new Nightjet trains will also feature rooms for families of four along with additional wheelchair assessable rooms. These welcome changes will hit the rails in the next coming months across the inter-European Nightjet network.
