Atlantic Airways has launched the first ever non-stop flight from the Faroe Islands to the United States. The Airbus A320neo arrived Tuesday August 22,2023 at New York Stewart International Airport (SWF). Flights will operate seasonally through September 20, 2023. Flights will operate from the Faroe Islands on Tuesdays with the return flight operating each Wednesday. Prior to Atlantic Airways offering flights from SWF, the Faroe Islands were not accessible from the United States given the remote location and lack of previous air service.
A Growing Secondary NYC Airport
Atlantic Airways will be the second international airline serving Stewart International Airport. Play Airlines operates daily flights out of Stewart to Reykjavik, Iceland offering connections throughout Europe. Allegiant Air also offers flights from Stewart to Myrtle Beach, Orlando Sanford, Punta Gorda and Saint Pete Clearwater. Prior to entering bankruptcy, Norwegian air offered weekly service from Stewart. Passengers flying Atlantic Airways or Play have the option to book bus tickets to New York City. Similar to Amtrak’s bus services the busses time the schedules with arriving and departing flights. The Stewart Airport Express is operated in partnership with Coach USA.
