As with many industries after the pandemic, staffing has become a grave issue that many hospitality groups both large and small face. In particular fulfilling jobs in the trade field has become difficult. SkillCat looks to face this issue head-on offering staffing solutions and jobs to those in the trade field. Members of the Path Less Traveled met team members of SkillCat at the Vegas Hospitality Show. SkillCat Co Founder Brenden A was kind enough to meet with the Path Less Traveled and explain a bit more about SkillCat.
How Did The Idea Of SkillCat Come To?
SkillCat CEO and Founder Ruchir Shah started his first venture in the tech industry launching learntodrill.com providing virtual training for the oil and drilling field. That inspired him to take the concept and gear it towards the HVAC industry. Users can gain accredited training and receive certifications through training right form their computers. Since its inception over 10,000 technicians received training through SkillCat.
How Does The Training Work
The training is 100% self paced. Standardized training covers EPA and OSHA accredited training. Users can take the EPA 608 exam and become EPA 608 certified right through the platform. Upon completion users can see open job positions at hotels etc. Employers can find skilled candidates through SkillCat. On the platform, handy tools are available as well including troubleshooting guides and repair checklists.
How Has The Feedback Been So Far?
Brenden highlighted the positive outcomes the platform has provided so far. Major companies were able to provide training online as opposed to finding certified instructors. SkillCat has brought on a new generation of HVAC and engineering staff to the travel and hotel industry. As the travel industry evolves, companies like SkillCat ensure that the staffing and skills gap is properly addressed.
