New and upcoming airline Air Japan has announced their first route commencing February 9, 2024. Flights will operate from Tokyo Narita to Bangkok on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner departing at 5:55PM and arriving into Bangkok at 11:15PM. Introductory fares can be found for as low as 15,500 yen (around $108 USD).
A Hybrid Operating Model
Air Japan is adapting the growing trend with Asian carriers offering hybrid operating models. In similar fashion with other low cost carriers, the model allows for customizable options such as meal and seat selection. According to Air Japan, 13 different in-flight meals will be available to purchase at the time of ticket reservations. Air Japan will be a subsidiary of ANA group best known for All Nippon Airlines. This means that passengers will have the ability to connect to flights operated by other ANA Group Airlines at Tokyo Narita’s terminal 1. Air Japan will not be the only Asian carrier adapting a hybrid model. Japan Airlines recently launched a subsidiary named Zip Air offering flights from Japan to the United States and Beyond. South Koreas Air Premia recently commenced flights to Europe. More routes from these hybrid carriers will be announced in the coming months, stay tuned.
