United Airlines utilizes Denver International Airport (DEN) as a major domestic and international hub. Over the years, United has had stiff competition with Southwest Airlines in being Denver’s largest airline. On May 23, 2023 United announced plans to grow operations at Denver including 35 additional flights. There will be six new routes, twelve new gates and three clubs including a soon to be largest club in the United Airlines Network. Starting summer 2023, United will double the number of early morning departures and late evening arrivals from Denver.
A Redefined Experience
In a recent press release United CEO Scott Kerby had remarks about the Denver expansion stating, “Denver is one of the fastest growing cities in the country and as the Mile High City’s most flown airline, it’s essential that we maintain the most modern infrastructure and fleet to support our local employees and customers and deliver a great experience. Our expansion in Denver will further enable us to connect our customers to destinations across the globe and revitalize our presence at the airport with modern, customer friendly offerings.”
Over $1 billion in investments made by United including additional gates, a grab and go United Club called United Club Fly and new check in lobbies. Gates in the B concourse have recently been renovated and include an outdoor terrace.
New Destinations And Aircraft
Many of the new destinations will be flown on factory fresh Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. Following the United Next fleet plan, regional aircraft will be repurposed to smaller routes making way for more mainline aircraft. New destinations out of Denver will primarily be flown on the Boeing 737 MAX, the airline’s flagship aircraft and product. Smaller destinations will be served on Embraer E175 regional jets offering three classes of service. New international destinations will soon serve Denver as United recently announced a large international expansion. These enhancements will help to strengthen United’s operation out of one of their largest hubs.
