American Airlines and Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) have entered a new ten year lease agreement. Included in the agreement is over $4.8 billion in capitol investments including renovations to Terminal C, Terminal A, gate expansions and construction of Terminal F. With over 800 daily flights, American Airlines looks to strengthen their operation and the additional gates and new terminal will enhance their DFW operations. To celebrate the new agreement, Fort Worth mayor Mattie Parker and Dallas mayor Eric L. Johnson were in attendance. โWe are very proud that Fort Worth-based American Airlines has signed this important agreement to cement DFWโs status as Americanโs main hub and help us continue to meet the incredible demand we are experiencing in North Texas,โ said Mayor Parker.
Terms of the lease agreement
The use and lease agreement outlines the airports business’ model and is the main governing document between DFW airport and American Airlines. Most notable projects in the document include expanding the central terminal area and a complete remodel of Terminal C. An additional 24 gates are expected to be expanded in American’s concourses. Roadways and access to the terminal will also see a complete upgrade.
The Path Less Traveled staffers recently had a unique opportunity to tour the DFW firefighting operation demonstrating the airport’s capability to support the massive operations and readiness in case of an emergency.
